Antonio Conte spoke in a press conference ahead of their fixture against Brentford. Here is what he has to say.
Conte reiterates happiness at Spurs despite the contract situation
Despite no agreement on a new deal at the club, Antonio Conte has repeated how happy he is playing for Tottenham.
The Italian coach has been asked frequently in recent months about extending his contract, but there has yet to be any official word. Conte’s current contract ends after the current campaign.
Conte acknowledged that his concentration was on the match on Monday rather than the contract situation.
However, he reiterated his satisfaction with living in north London and stated that he and the club were trying to come up with the “optimal option.”
“In the future,” Conte said, “I think I would also like to avoid talking about this issue in the news conference because I think the game we are about to play, in this case Brentford, is much more important.”
“But I am quite content to work here and have a great relationship with the club. We discuss with the club daily and work to identify the best course of action.”
“However, we have six months to continue being with, to enjoy the circumstances, and then we discover, again, the finest answer. For me, this is of the utmost importance. But right here, I’m incredibly thrilled.”
🗣 "It's much more important to talk about the game we are going to play…What I can tell you is that I am really happy at the club."

Conte: No reason to talk to Kane about England’s penalty miss
Tottenham manager Antonio Conte thinks Harry Kane is prepared to move on from his World Cup setback despite not having spoken to the forward about his missed penalty kick for England.
The Tottenham manager stated, “About my experience, when I was a player, unpleasant events happened and you know what happened.”
“Finding individuals to tell you, “oh, don’t worry,” is not that crucial. We are powerful. You have to be a strong individual to play at this level. Try to respond to bad things that happen correctly.”
“For me, it’s best to remain silent and refrain from explaining since Harry is a powerful person, just as I was when I was a player.”
“We’re talking about a significant player here, and they know how to react. We’re talking about a striker of the highest caliber who broke all the records to score. For us, Harry is the key player.”
“I expect you to carry on doing it,’ he said. “Harry is our striker and a crucial point of reference for me. He is prepared to resume the second half of the season.”
Antonio Conte complains about the fixture schedule after World Cup
Antonio Conte has acknowledged that he is dissatisfied that Tottenham will play so soon after the World Cup is over.
On Boxing Day, Spurs will play Brentford in the early game. Conte acknowledged that the midseason World Cup and its effects on fatigue would influence his team selection.
One week after the World Cup, he commented, “It is a peculiar scenario and honestly, to play so rapidly, I am not really happy.”
“But it’s understandable that now it’s difficult since the physical condition could be better when so many players compete in a tournament like this, especially during the season.”
“It is impossible to give them much rest, and for sure, with the players that didn’t play in the World Cup and we worked for four weeks, they are in terrific physical condition.”
“We put a lot of effort into the tactical and physical aspects. They are now performing at a level higher than those World Cup-winning athletes.”
“For this reason, I must choose wisely in the matchup with Brentford. On one side, I have players with whom I had an excellent four-week working relationship; on the other, I have guys who participated in the World Cup but are not now performing at their best.”
