Transfer talks: Chelsea reopens Enzo Fernandez talks, Spurs interested in Piero Hincapie & Bellerin to Sporting CP

Let’s see some of the transfer news around the football world.

Tottenham Hotspurs submit an offer for Piero Hincapie

According to Bild, Tottenham Hotspur has made a verbal bid to purchase Piero HincapiĆ© from Bayer Leverkusen for €25 million.

HincapiĆ© has always piqued Tottenham’s interest as they seek to expand their defensive options. The Ecuadorian is also a huge favorite of Antonio Conte, who advised Tottenham management to buy the center-back in December.

However, HincapiĆ© is a crucial component of Leverkusen’s defense and has played both left-back and center-back this season, so they are not in a weak position regarding a transaction.

With only two days left in the transfer window, Leverkusen would need to find a replacement if a deal were to be made.

Spurs may make another attempt to sign HincapiƩ in the summer, but Chelsea and Arsenal are also reportedly interested.

HincapiƩ has made 20 appearances for Leverkusen this season, starting 13 of those games. He participated in all three games for Ecuador in the World Cup in Qatar as a national team member.

Chelsea reopens talks to sign Enzo Fernandez before the transfer deadline

Chelsea has restarted talks with Benfica to sign Enzo FernĆ”ndez and is eager to add him to the squad ahead of Tuesday’s deadline.

The Blues have had a busy month thus far with the arrivals of Mikhailo Mudryk, Joo FƩlix, BenoƮt Badiashile, Noni Madueke, and Malo Gusto, among others.

According to a recent story from The Telegraph, the Argentine World Cup champion is being added to that elite group.

Chelsea is convinced they will raise their offer in the coming days to close the deal after the Portuguese giants rejected their £70 million offer earlier this month.

Additional rumors in Portugal suggest that the Blues have presented two prospective opening offers, which is said to have encouraged them in their desperate chase of FernƔndez.

The other claims they will meet his £105m release clause, but only if they can pay that sum in installments. One would require them to part with £85m plus send an unnamed player in the opposite direction.

Benfica has been adamant that they must receive the full release clause payment if the midfielder is to transfer this month, and Chelsea is now hesitant to do so.

Hector Bellerin is set to sign for Sporting CP on loan

According to the Evening Standard, Bellerin is reportedly close to signing a loan deal with Sporting CP, filling the right-back void Porro might have created this winter.

As Tottenham prepares to complete its second piece of January business to sign Porro after hijacking Everton’s agreement for Arnaut Danjuma on Saturday, Bellerin’s impending move to Portugal, which was originally reported, appears to be the last piece of the puzzle.

Bellerin will travel to Portugal in search of extra playing time even though Sporting has found a strong alternative for the right-back position.

The Spaniard spent eleven years with Arsenal before joining Barca from Real Betis in the summer. However, he has only made seven appearances for the Blaugrana this season, spending most of that time on the bench.
