Arsenal defensive struggle in recent years reportedly triggers them to potentially target a strong defender this summer. Media reports are suggesting that Gunners have their eyes set on signing AS Roma’s Kostas Manolas.
Potentially not having the biggest budget for next season’s transfer window, Manolas’s price will be suitable for Unai Emery’s side. The Greek international has a relatively low release clause of 36 million Euro, which will only starts from June 1st this year.
Knowing that situation, Arsenal are looking very keen on getting the center back to bolster their back line. In this era, there won’t be many better defender that can be signed in such relatively moderate numbers.
However, competition won’t be that easy for Gunners as there’s reports of other interest for the player. Juventus and Manchester United are also showing interest in acquiring for the player’s signature.
Moreover, there’s also the idea that Roma will try their best in keeping Manolas as his current deal will last until 2022. However, without Champions League football, it will be difficult for I Giallorossi not to part ways with their star defender.
Although Gunners themselves might not be able to offer Champions League football, but they can offer a new environment. The attraction of English Premier League and ability to pay higher wages might be enough to persuade the 27-year-old defender.
