Failing to get Neymar back this summer despite their strong attempts doesn’t bother Barcelona too much for now. The Catalan side themselves won’t even make another attempt to sign the Brazilian next January.
That plan was not just medial talks since it was stated by Barca’s president, Josep Maria Bartomeu. Speaking to the press, Bartomeu was not shy in confirming that Blaugrana have no plan in pursuing the Brazil super star in early 2020.
“We did everything possible to sign him. Barcelona couldn’t meet PSG’s demands (this summer),” the President explained. “He’s not in the plans for January.”
Moreover, Bartomeu also denying previous reports saying that Barca were actively offering some of their players to PSG in a swap deal. However, the executive is now claiming that it was the French club that wanted it.
The president was saying that any players inclusion were simply something that PSG were keen on doing. Moreover, rumors regarding Lionel Messi’s involvement in any attempt to sign Neymar were also denied.
Bartomeu is adamant in stating that no Barca players have any says on the club’s transfer policy. This statement could be a positive move to regain some calmness at Barca’s dressing room, which reportedly got warm recently.
