Recent form in all competition (last five matches): WDWWW
Acting as the host for this 2019 Copa America, Tite’s squad have been preparing quite well ahead of the opening match. In their recent five international fixtures, Selecao won four and drew one.
Their latest match was a friendly tie against Honduras which Brazil comfortably won 7-0. That big win can give the tournament host a strong confidence to take a victory in their opening fixture this weekend.
Recent form in all competition (last five matches) :DDLLLL
Eduardo Villegas’ side haven’t been doing to well recently, especially in their preparation before the tournament. La Verde struggling in their last five matches, drawing two and losing three of them.
Making things more complicated, Bolivia’s latest three matches have all ended in defeats. Their most recent loss was in a friendly fixture against World Champion, France in which the South American side got beaten 2-0.
Tite was forced to make a late changes into his Selecao squad which was also an important one as they loss Neymar due to injury. Brazil eventually called up Chelsea’s Willian as replacement for the Paris Saint-Germain star.
Without Neymar, Tite is set to play Philippe Coutinho, David Neres along with Richarlison in support of Gabriel Jesus up front. In midfield, it looks like the tactician will be playing Arthur alongside Fernandinho.
Villegas doesn’t have to experience that need in making important changes ahead of the tournament. However, La Verde were preparing a rather inexperience team for this Copa America, giving many concerns for their fans.
Marcelo Martins will be the main man up front as his the only experienced player that can be relied on. There won’t be much expectations being given for this Bolivia side, so they will play without any pressure.
Head to Head Records:
In their last five meetings, Brazil have the advantage over their opponent though it’s far from dominant as Selecao won two, drew two and lose one.
Their latest match up was in 2017 during World Cup qualifier which ended in a goalless draw.
Being labeled as favorite to win this year’s Copa America, Brazil are strongly expected to win against Bolivia. Playing the opening tie can be tricky with many pressure piling up, but Selecao should have enough talent to win.
La Verde will arrive without much pressure, giving them the opportunity to play their best. Selecao are strong favorite to win, but if they are not careful a shock is still possible.
Final Score: 3-0
