Brazilian defender, David Luiz’s contract supposedly up this summer, but he is looking confident of staying at Chelsea. The player confirmed that he is currently talking with the club over a new deal.
Speaking in a recent interview to the media, Luiz is not shy in admitting his desire to remain at Stamford Bridge. The 31-year-old stated his love for Chelsea and beliefs that his contract talks will end well.
“We are talking with the club. Everybody knows I love this club, I feel comfortable here and I am happy here,” The Brazilian explained. “I am doing my job very well so I think a lot is going to happen.”
Moreover, Luiz also adding that he still has big desire to keep on playing despite already passing the 30-year-old mark. He claims that he never lose any motivation everyday to play football as he loves the sport.
“I have the job, best job in the world so I have to be motivated every single day. I love football, if I didn’t love football I would not be playing anymore, Luiz added.”
The defender has been playing regularly this season under Maurizio Sarri and is hoping that nothing will change anytime soon. Although the club do have a certain contract renewal rule for over 30 players, but Luiz doesn’t seem to mind.
Chelsea are known to only keen on giving short term deal for every players who are already over 30-years-old. It’s very likely that they will only give a one year extension for the Brazilian center back.
