Ilkay Gundogan has become one of City’s most important players in their recent domestic treble success. However, there’s some questions regarding his contract as no renewal has been agreed yet between them.
Although the German international still has one year left in his contract, media are speculating a potential departure. Rumors are claiming that Gundogan could decide to leave if there’s no agreement happening soon.
However, that speculation was denied by the midfielder himself, who is not too concern as just yet. His focus is still preparing for next season with City as he still has a contract with them.
“Renewal?Personally, I don’t set a deadline for x or y, I’m relaxed since I still have a year left of my contract. I would understand if we were in march 2020,” Gundogan explained.
Moreover, the midfielder also added that he still has an ambition with Man City next season. The German international is keen on winning the Champions League after failing to do so again this season.
Although he is grateful with their domestic success, crashing out of Europe was a painful experience for him. Nevertheless, he is happy with what City able to achieve this season.
“The elimination in Europe was extremely hard, but that’s football. Certainly if I can still wish for something at the club level for my future, then I want to win the Champions League, this is my great goal,” the midfielder added.
