Bruno Genesio’s men have been performing quite well recently as they have won four out of their last five fixtures and losing only one. The defeat that Lyon experience during that run happened on February 11 against Nice.
The French outfit have been doing quite well at home as their last two home fixtures ended with victories. Les Gones are also unbeaten in Champions League so far this season, though they only won one match and drawing all of the rest.

EL Barca haven’t been at their best form as Valverde’s men were struggling to get victories before last Saturday’s game. Blaugrana had three straight draws, with two of them being at Camp Nou, before eventually beating Real Valladolid 1-0 this weekend.
That victory against Valladolid was needed as it can help the regain some confidence ahead of their travel to France. However, Barca doesn’t always have the best of away record in UCL.
Lyon have some injury concern for this midweek tie with Amine Gouri, Rafael and Ousseynou Ndiaye set to be left out. However, the more concerning would be Tanguy Ndombele and Jason Denayer’s condition.
Both Denayer and Ndombele are still doubtful, but there’s strong hope that they will make the cut. Another important absence is Nabil Fekir, who is suspended for the first leg match up.
Valverde also have some injury problems to handle as Arthyer, Rafinha, Cillessen and Vermalen all won’t be available. Fortunately, Samuel Umtiti has returned after recovering from his recent long term injury.
Ousmane Dembele could be given the starting spot up front, accompanying Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez. In midfield, with Arthur’s absence, Arturo Vidal will once again play from the start.
Head to Head Records:
Both teams have met several times in the past, and most of their results have been in favor or El Barca with three wins and two draws.
The last matchup between both teams in France happened back on February 25, 2009 which ended 1-1.
Home team Lyon have shown that they are difficult to beat in front of their home crowd. However, the absence of Fekir could affect Genesio’s squad offensive quality, especially against a side like Barcelona.
Barca themselves will be pushing for a victory to make their work much esier in the second leg. However, Valverde’s side haven’t always looked convincing in their travel, especially during the knockout stages.
Final Score: 2-2
