Having a pretty good start in early 2019, Madrid starting to struggle again in recent matches. Los Blancos’ last five fixtures resulted in two wins and three defeats.

Madrid’s two straight losses from Barcelona can also affect their confidence ahead of the Tuesday clash. Santiago Solari’s men will be desperate to win this midweek to get their beliefs back.

Ajax Amsterdam

Recent form in all competition (last five matches) :LLWWW

After losing against Madrid in the previous meeting, Ajax were able to bounce back really well. Erik ten Hag’s men went on to win their next three games after that loss against Los Blancos.

Three straight wins can lift the Dutch side’s confidence ahead of  their away fixture this midweek. Ajax won’t lose any hope as just yet especially since their opponent haven’t been playing well recently.

Team News

Real Madrid

Madrid doesn’t have too much injury issues ahead of this midweek tie as only Marcos Llorente who won’t be available. However, Los Blancos have to play without their skipper, Sergio Ramos, who is suspended for Tuesday.

Considering Ramos’ absence, Nacho will fill that role in defense alongside Raphael Varane. Madrid should still rely on Vinicius, Benzema and Gareth Bale to break down Ajax’s defense.

Ajax Amsterdam

Ajax also doesn’t have too much injury concern as Carel Eiting and Hassane Bande who will be absent. Aside from those two names, Ten Hag will have plenty options to pick from his available squad.

Frenkie de Jong and Donnie Van de Beek will be the Dutch’s midfield combo to orchestrate everything. Dusan Tadic should be given the starting role again as center forward just like in the first leg.

Head to Head Records:

Los Blancos have been the more dominant side in both teams last five meetings as they won all of them.

Their latest matchup between the two teams at Santiago Bernebau happened back in 2012 and was won by Madrid 4-1.

Match Prediction

Madrid will be very eager to get their winning run back following two disappointing defeats against Barca . Solari’s side must secure their passage into the next round of Champions League or this season pretty much over for them.

Ajax won’t make things easy though as they already showed in the first leg that they are capable of troubling Los Blancos. Madrid remain favorite to win, but if they are careless, Ten Hag’s men can produce a surprise.

Final Score: 1-1
