Recent form in all competition (last five matches): LLWWL
The Hammers didn’t have a great preseason in terms of results as they won only two and lose three from their last five friendlies. Their last preparation was against Athletic Bilbao which saw them losing on penalties after drawing 2-2 in normal time.
Mauricio Pellegrini’s men will have to take things in a better fashion as it’s not a preseason anymore. West Ham are hoping that they can stun the defending champion this upcoming weekend..
Recent form in all competition (last five matches) :WLWWW
Man City’s preseason have gone quite well as their last five games ended in four wins and only one defeat. Their only defeat happened against Wolverhampton Wanderers during preseason friendly last July.
City’s latest fixture was a victory against Liverpool in the Community Shield which Guardiola’s side won on penalties. The visitor are gunning for three points as they wan’t to start their season in the best possible way.
Pellegrini won’t have too many injury concerns in this early start with Mark Noble the only one confirmed to be out. Lukas Fabianski is in doubt, but should be available to play in goal for Hammers.
New arrivals up front such as Fornals and Haller will immediately given the starting spot on Saturday. Aside from those new names, West Ham set to still rely on Manuel Lanzini and Filipe Anderson as their attacking source.
Guardiola already find himself in a tough situation early in this season with injuries to Mendy and Leroy Sane. There’s still also doubts for Laporte, Fernandino and Mahrez to participate this weekend.
However, new signing, Rodri is set and ready to make his Premier League debut after having good preseason. Sergio Aguero remain the main guy up front with Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva to help out from two flanks.
Head to Head Records:
In their last five meetings, City have been super dominant by winning all of those games.
Their most recent meeting was in a friendly tournament on July 17th which Man City comfortably won by 4-1.
The home side are eager to show their fans that they are a much better team already this upcoming season. Taking down Man City should be prove to their improvement, but it will be far from easy.
City themselves will want to start their season up and running by grabbing three points away from home. Guardiola’s side should be the favorite to win, but must remain cautious over West Ham’s threat.
Final Score: 1-3
