Vinicius Junior received racial insults from one of the fans, overshadowing Real Madrid’s victory over Real Valladolid on Friday.
What has Vini Jr. said?
Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr. claims that La Liga “continues to do nothing” about “racists” attending games.
The Real Madrid winger expressed his annoyance at being the target of insults again. He continued by criticising La Liga and charging that it wasn’t doing enough to combat racism.
“Racists continue to attend games and observe the best team in the world up close. Still, La Liga needs to do something,” according to Vinicius.
“I’ll continue on with a proud attitude, rejoicing in both my and Madrid’s successes. In the end, I’m to blame.”
Vinicius Junior and LaLiga president Javier Tebas clashed on social media over LaLiga's stance on dealing with racism.

La Liga responds to Vini’s Jr. comments
However, La Liga has reacted to the player with speed. The organisation has responded in a press release, confirming that they had named the fan who had racially assaulted Vinicius.
La Liga added that the information had been forwarded to the Anti-Violence Commission and the prosecutor’s office for hate crimes.
“La Liga had identified racist slurs from someone, from the stands of the Zorrilla stadium, uploaded on social networks before the Real Madrid player Vinicius Jr. made a comment referencing the lack of action measures taken by La Liga in the fight against racism.”
The press announcement (h/t Mundo Deportivo) stated that “these occurrences will be submitted to the Anti-Violence Commission and the Hate Crimes Prosecutor’s Office.”
Earlier, La Liga president Javier Tebas responded to Vinicius’ insult on Twitter, writing: “In La Liga, we have been fighting against RACISM for years. Vinicius, it is unfortunate, unfair, and untrue to publish that La Liga does nothing against racism to obtain better information.”
Racist slurs directed towards Vinicius were reported to the prosecutor’s office by La Liga in October 2021.
Spanish prosecutors concluded their inquiry into racist chanting by Atletico fans last month. They stated that it was not possible to identify those responsible. We are at your disposal so that altogether, we proceed in the same direction.
